How accurate are JengaCost's estimates?
They are budget estimates, measured from the design and priced from dated, ranged rates. They tell you whether a house is within reach and where the money goes. They are not a contractor's quotation: prices move, and a site can bring surprises.
Because the bill is measured item by item, it moves the way a real bill does: a bigger roof, an extra bathroom or a second storey all show up in the right lines. The figures are still estimates:
- rates are surveyed at a date and prices move;
- a site can need deeper foundations, retaining walls or a long water connection that no design shows;
- contractors price their own risk and profit.
Use the estimate to budget, compare and plan. Before you commit, get quotes (JengaCost can send your bill to suppliers) and have a quantity surveyor check the bill for a large job. Add a contingency for the unknowns.
