Why does the same house cost more in some counties?
Materials have to travel further, labour rates differ, and some areas have fewer suppliers. JengaCost prices the same measured bill in every county with that county's adjustment, so the difference is visible line by line.
Cement, steel and roofing sheets mostly come from a few places, so the further a site is from them, the more transport is in every bag and bar. Labour rates and supplier competition also differ. JengaCost applies a county adjustment to its baseline rates. Statutory fees, which don't depend on the county's prices, are not adjusted.
