What is ground coverage, and why does it matter?
Ground coverage is the share of your plot the building's roofed area covers. Counties set a limit for each zone. A house that covers more than the limit will not be approved where you drew it.
Everything roofed counts towards coverage, including verandas and carports, not just the enclosed rooms. Your county planning office can tell you the limit for your plot's zone.
On the compare page, enter your plot area and the coverage allowed. Each house shows the share of the plot it covers, and any house over the limit is flagged and ranked below those that fit. The catalogue designs drawn on a plot also show their plot ratio, which is the floor area divided by the plot area.
